Tom Cruise's 'Jack Reacher': New picture reveals Lee Child cameo

Jack Reacher has unveiled a new still showing the series' author Lee Child in a cameo role.

The image depicts Tom Cruise as Reacher and Rosamund Pike as defence lawyer Helen Rodin.

However, the picture also reveals that author Child will appear in the film, featuring as a policeman in a scene with the pair.

The film - which changed its title from One Shot to Jack Reacher in May - is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) and follows ex-military investigator Reacher as he attempts to track down a serial killing sniper.

The choice of Cruise in the title role has proved controversial among fans, some of whom believe that the 5'7" Cruise is not a suitable choice to play Reacher, who is 6'5" in the books.

The actor revealed that he is "sensitive" to the criticism, but only took the role after being given Child's personal blessing.
