Tom Cruise's 'Jack Reacher' hits $200 million worldwide
'Reacher' flick is the 19th time a movie starring Cruise has hit the $200 million mark.
It looks like Tom Cruise is showing his merit as Hollywoods highest paid actor after reports this week of his Jack Reacher film hitting the $200 million mark in worldwide box office gross.
According to Deadline, this is the 19th time that a movie starring Cruise has hit that mark. The movie didnt do too well in domestically in the US, however, earning only half of that mark in the box office, according to IMDb.
Thanks to the worldwide response, Paramount will look to make a franchise out the Reacher movie, which is a novel adaptation from a Lee Child book series. A sequel is reportedly in the works.
Cruise topped the Forbes list last year of Hollywoods highest paid actors by earning $75 million, most of which came from the last installment of Mission Impossible, which made over $700 million.
Aside from the big-earning Mission: Impossible series, other successful box office roles for Cruise came in War of the Worlds, Rain Man, Top Gun and The Last Samurai.
