Tom Cruise movie 'One Shot' set to film in courthouse

Wannabe paparazzi and Tom Cruise stalkers can add the Allegheny County Courthouse to their celebrity map for next weekend.

The Cruise movie "One Shot," which has been filming throughout Pittsburgh this month, is planning to film in the Grant Street side of the courthouse on Dec. 3, county Public Works director Joseph A. Olczak said.

The county typically lets major movies shoot in the courthouse on off days as long as producers cover their own costs. County council has not given final approval for the filming.

Olczak said he is not sure what scenes they'll film there. Crews plan to be in the mural-filled first-floor lobby where the county puts its holiday decorations, and will likely be there from dawn to dusk. This will be their second stop in recent weeks, having filmed there overnight one weekend from Friday evening through Saturday, Olczak said.

"One Shot" is a murder mystery based on one of the Jack Reacher novel series by author Lee Child. It has been filming throughout Downtown and the suburbs for about a month.

The filming comes two years after work on "The Next Three Days," the Russell Crowe film that featured the county jail and also shot at the 123-year-old Romanesque and gothic courthouse Downtown. Production companies provide their own security and cover the costs of any upgrades they need or damage they cause during filming, county officials said at the time.
