Tom Cruise To Be Fourth Star To Receive Entertainment Icon Award

Tom Cruise has received countless awards in recognition of his talent throughout his lengthy acting career, but none are quite as prestigious as the award hell be receiving soon.

According to the New York Post, the Friars Club have announced that Cruise will receive its highest honor, the Entertainment Icon Award, in recognition of his outstanding talent and the impact the actor has made on the entertainment history over the past several years.

The Entertainment Icon Award isnt something that the Friars Club hands out often, by any stretch of the imaginationCruise will be only the fourth star to ever receive the reward. The other Hollywood legends honored with the Entertainment Icon Award include Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, and Frank Sinatra.

Friars Club Abbot Jerry Lewis had this to say about Cruise: Tom Cruise will join an elite group of only three other entertainment legends who have received our Icon Award, and whose work has made a global impact on our industry and changed the very face of cinema.

The Foundations Chairman, Ambassador Joseph Zappala added: This will be an incredible night that will live forever in our clubs history. We are so proud to be presenting this unique honor to Tom Cruise whose humanitarian endeavors mirror his accomplishments in cinema and the arts.

The New York Post went on to report that Cruise will receive the award at the Friars Foundation Gala, which is being held at the Waldorf-Astoria on June 12.
