Tom Cruise denies speaking about Katie Holmes divorce

Tom Cruise has denied speaking about his divorce from Katie Holmes in a recent interview.

The Oblivion actor was reported to have said that he "didn't expect" to be divorced at 50, but his representative has confirmed that the quotes were fictitious.

An interview with German TV network ProSieben was reportedly picked up by German tabloid Bunte, including "some real and some made up" quotes.

"The entire interview was about his career. He was not asked any personal questions," Cruise's rep told Yahoo! News.

ProSieben interviewer Steven Gaetjen also confirmed to People that he only asked Cruise about his career.

Cruise was misquoted as sa! ying: "I did not expect that. Life is a challenge. To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you - that's what life is. Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humour."

Holmes and Cruise split after five years of marriage last June, with a New York judge finalising their divorce in August.

Cruise is currently promoting his new movie Oblivion, which is out now in the UK and April 19 in the US.

The actor recently confirmed his involvement in a fifth Mission: Impossible movie.
