Tom Cruise Born to be a Star?

Clint Eastwood is directing a musical remake of A Star Is Born, and Warner Bros. wants Tom Cruise to star alongside Beyonc Knowles.

According to Variety, Cruise is currently being courted by the studio for the leading role, described as an "over-the-hill musician who falls for a young singer who he's trying to help make a star."

Cruise has expressed at least somewhat of an interest in the part as it would allow him the opportunity to work with Eastwood for the first time. However, penciling him in to film might be tougher. Cruise is currently slated for two projects in the near future: Joseph Kosinski's untitled sci-fi movie (pka Oblivion) at Universal and All You Need Is Kill for Warners.

In the last year, the studio has eyed Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Leonardo DiCaprio for the aforementioned part.
