Will Tom Cruise Join Beyonc In A Star Is Born?

Tom Cruise is the latest in a long list of names to be associated with a starring role opposite Beyonc Knowles in Clint Eastwoods A Star Is Born. If the Mission: Impossible star decides to take the role it could mean yet another delay for the film, which has been in development for several years.

A Star Is Born was last delayed due to Beyoncs pregnancy, but she is now ready to start shooting this coming June; however, Cruise has a packed schedule. Hes currently filming director Joseph Kosinskis Oblivion, and then hes set to segue into All You Need Is Kill (We Are Mortals) for Bourne Identity director Doug Liman, so an early summer shoot is unlikely (Mission: Impossible 5 is also in the pipeline). There is a possibility that A Star Is Born could be pushed back further to accommodate Cruises newfound heat. Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol has banked over $208 million domestically and its moving towards $700 million worldwide, making it Cruises biggest global hit to date.

A Star Is Born is another rem! ake of t he tale which follows the romance between two performers, one whose career is on the ascent (Beyonc), while the others star is fading. Over the last few years, a multitude of names have been attached to the lead male role, with Will Smith, Christian Bale, Eminem, Russell Crowe and Robert Downey Jr. all having been mentioned.

Cruises addition to the cast of A Star is Born is pure speculation at this point, as schedules, salaries and contracts all need to be figured out. But if he does take the part, it could nab him that elusive Oscar.

Cruise well next be seen in the musical Rock of Ages, where he gets to flex his vocal cords as rocker Stacee Jaxx.
