'W.E.' Star Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko Join Tom Cruise's Sci-Fi Thriller

Tom Cruise has found his ladies.

Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko have been cast as the female leads in Universals untitled Tom Cruise sci-fi project being directed by Joseph Kosinski.

The signing caps off months of searching for the leads, which was made more complicated when Jessica Chastain, cast in one of the roles, exited to do another movie.

The project, formerly known as Oblivion and Horizons, is a love story taking place in an apocalyptic future where most of the population lives in clouds since the Earth is no longer habitable. An Earth-bound repairman whose job it is to work on drones that fight alien life forms meets a woman who forces him to question his world view.

Kurylenko will play Cruise's lover and partner, who tethers him to the world above the clouds while he's doing repairwork. She becomes none-too-happy when she discovers he has fallen for the new woman, played by Riseborough.

Michael Arndt is rewriting the script, which had drafts written by William Monahan and Karl Gadjusek.

Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark will produce through Chernin Entertainment alongside Barry Levine and Kosinski.

For British actress Riseborough, the part is break into American movies. The actress currently stars in Madonnas W.E. and has appeared in movies such as Made in Dagenham and Resistance. Movies in the can include Shadow Dancer, with Clive Owen, and Welcome to the Punch with James McAvoy.

Kurylenko is best known for being a Bond girl in Quantum of Solace and is filming Seven Psychopaths, the new thriller from Martin McDonagh (In Bruges).

Both actresses are repped by CAA. Riseborough is additionally repped by Untitles and UKs Independent Talent Group. Kurylennko is repp! ed by Ta vistock Wood in the UK.
