Tom Cruise Sealed for Remake of Western Film 'The Magnificent Seven'

MGM has tapped the 'Valkyrie' actor to star in the reboot of John Sturges' 1960 movie, which centers on a group of American gunmen hired to protect a Mexican town from bandits.

After showing off his vocal chops in "", could be a gunman in his upcoming movie. The "Mission: Impossible" actor has been sealed to star in MGM's remake of John Sturges' 1960 Western film "The Magnificent Seven".

According to Variety, Cruise has long been interested to take part in the remake project. Though so, sources revealed that the film is still a long way to go and is not included in the actor's immediate gigs. The reboot project itself still hasn't tapped a director yet. MGM is currently starting its search for a screenwriter.

Based on Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic "Seven Samurai", "The Magnificent Seven" follows a gang of American gunmen hired to protect a small Mexican town from a group of bandits led by Calvera.

Cruise has been courted to return for "" and to star opposite in 's "". Recently, he was reported to be eyed to reunite with in a buddy-comedy pic called "".

Aside from "Rock of Ages", Cruise's next movies are Christopher McQuarrie's novel-adapted thriller "", Joseph Kosinski's sci-fi pic "" (formerly known as "Oblivion") and Doug Liman's action movie "" (formerly known as "Al You Need Is Kill").
