Tom Cruise To Receive Honorary Citizenship Of South Korean City

Actor Tom Cruise is set to be handed honorary citizenship of Busan, South Korea later this week (ends13Jan13) in recognition of his lengthy career.

The Top Gun icon and his Jack Reacher co-star Rosamund Pike, as well as the film's director Christopher MCQuarrie, will be celebrated by Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik during the local premiere of the movie on Thursday (10Jan13).

The Hollywood Reporter quotes a city official as saying, "The visit of a top star and director will contribute to promoting Busan's important status in Asia for cinema. The city has decided to award the honorary citizenship to Mr. Cruise in recognition of his contribution to the industry."
