Tom Cruise drops even more weight under the strain of his divorce from Katie Holmes

Following his initial separation from wife Katie Holmes in June, Tom Cruise stepped out three weeks later looking noticeably slimmer.

But it appears that after their official divorce last month, the actor has dropped even more weight.

The 50-year-old star looked a shadow of his former self and somewhat gaunt as he was spotted arriving at a production of William Shakespeare's Richard III at the Globe Theatre in London over the weekend.

While he still has his action man muscles, his figure is much more slimline, which begs the question as to whether Tom is yet another victim of the heartbreak diet.

While he had his famous smile plastered across his face, the actor also appeared exhausted.

Enjoying a weekend off filming his latest movie All You Need Is Kill, Tom took tim! e out to ! check out the Globe Theatre production.

The father-of-three took a seat - on a cushion on a wooden bench - in one of the Tudor-style building's middle-tier galleries overlooking the stage to watch the historical play.

Aware his presence was creating quite the stir, Tom told fellow audience members: 'I love the theatre,' according to People magazine.

Following the curtain call, the group popped next door to the Swan At The Globe restaurant for a late dinner.

The eaterie stayed open late so Cruise and his friends could stay eating and drinking until 2am this morning.

A staff member told People: 'We are on overtime now. They have ordered another round of beers.'

Also during his current stay in Britain, Tom met up with ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz and her husband Javier Bardem for dinner last week.

The trio were joined by their Vanilla Sky co-star Cameron Diaz and Tom's son Connor.

It appeared as though Tom first slimmed down in July, after his world was rocked as wife of five years Katie filed for divorce.

Admitting that he was 'deeply saddened' b! y her cho! ice, the Tropic Thunder actor seemed to be coping well.

However, pictures of Tom showed what the strain of the collapse of his marriage had on him, as he had shed 14lbs.

Pictured on July 10 on the set of Oblivion 2, Tom looked quite beefed out compared to slim figure he cut three weeks later on July 28 in Malibu having lunch with his lawyer.

Now he appears to have lost several more pounds judging by his appearance over the weekend.

It has been reported that since Tom got word of Katie's decision to split, he has dived deeper into work, and ignoring concern from his family members.

Speaking to Grazia, a source said back in August: 'Tom's friends and family have urged him to take a break, but he has brushed off their concern'.

'He is refusing to slow down and is trying to soldier on. He doesn't seem to be himself. He hasn't been working out like he normally does and doesn't appear to be eating well at all. His clothes just hang off him.'

The source also told the magazine: 'His way of dealing with this is to throw himself into his work, but as a result he's not looking after himself, and he risks cutting himself off from people who care about him and want to make sure he's OK.'

Katie initially lodged legal papers in June, citing 'irreconcilable differences' for the split and requesting sole legal custody and 'primary residential custody' of Suri - the couple's six-year-old daughter, Suri.

The former couple released a joint statement at the time, saying: 'We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.

'We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents.'

The pair then officially divorced at the end of August.

'The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed,' her attorney told E! News last month.

'We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.

'We thank! Tom's co! unsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.'
