'Oblivion' trailer: Tom Cruise roams post-apocalyptic Earth - video

Tom Cruises's Oblivion has debuted its first trailer.

The movie - directed by Tron: Legacy's Joseph Kosinski - sees Cruise play Jack Harper, a drone repairman stationed on Earth to extract resources in the aftermath of a huge war.

The trailer's arrival follows the release of the first Oblivion poster this week, a haunting image of Harper among the ruins of New York.

Oblivion, which began life as a graphic novel from Kosinski, also stars Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.

French electro act M83 will provide the score for the movie.

Oblivion is due to open exclusively in IMAX cinemas on April 12, 2013 and will then receive a wide release on April 19, 2013.
