Tom Cruise is Ready to Kill in the 'Jack Reacher' Trailer

After the huge success of last years Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, it seems that Paramount wants to make every Christmas a Tom Cruise Holiday. This year we get Cruise in Jack Reacher, and theyve cut a great trailer for this down and dirty action movie.

Cruise is the titular Reacher, and hes an army cop who comes back to the world after a two year disappearance because of a shooting that left five dead and a man possibly framed for the murder. That possible becomes likely as the film suggests a larger conspiracy that involves men led by Werner Herzogs bad guy. And though physically Cruise has Herzog by a mile, we still think its possible that the master German director could take Cruise given the right circumstances. Robert Duvall, Rosamund Pike and Richard Jenkins also appear in the film, which was written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie.

The ending makes the trailer. It also says something about peoples attitudes towards cops and it gives one of the films extras a nice moment. Audiences havent been responding as well to throwback action movie, ones with few CGI assisted effects and a commanding lead, but perhaps Cruise now close to returned to his previous infallible movie star status will bring audiences in. Or maybe this trailer will get people excited as it is pretty great. The film is scheduled to open December 21.
